Karnataka Heritage Tour

Destinations : Bangalore - Hassan - Mysore - Kabini - Coorg - Bangalore

Day 01: Arrival: BangaloreBangalore: Giant Shiva
On arrival at Bangalore airport you will be greeted by our executive/representative and transferred to the hotel/resort. The afternoon is at leisure. In the evening you could visit one of the several Pubs or Discotheques and spend your time partying and dancing. Over night stay at Bangalore.

Day 02: Bangalore - Hassan (172 kms)
After breakfast in the morning, check out hotel and you could take a short local tour of Banglore city visiting, Vidhana Soudha- A magnificent building of the Neo-Dravidian style, that houses the State Legislature, Lalbagh Gardens-an expanse of greenery and one of India's most beautiful botanical gardens, The Government Museum - One of the oldest museums in the country, ISKCON Temple - A blend of modern technology and spiritual harmony is the Hare Krishna Temple, built on the hillock with a panoramic beauty.

Later in the afternoon you will proceed to Hassan. The mere mention of Hassan resonates with the names of Belur-Halebeed and Sravanabelagola. The temples at Belur & Halebeed are the mute testimony to the highest peak of Sculpting skills, that man has ever achieved. On Arrival at Hassan, check in at hotel and the rest of the evening is at leisure. Over night stay at Hassan.


Day 03: Hassan
After breakfast, take a days tour visiting:
» Shravanbelgola - a prominent Jain pilgrimage centre in Hassan district, it is home to Asia's largest monolithic statue. Lord Gomateshwara here towers 58ft.

» Belur - It is today famous for its ancient exquisite temples. The Chennakeshava Temple being the finest example of the Hoyasala architecture it took 103 years to complete. The façade of the temple is filled with intricate sculptures and friezes with no portion left blank. Elephants, episodes from the epics, sensuous dancers…they are all there-awe inspiring in their intricate workmanship. The Veeranarayan Temple and the smaller shrines are also well worth a visit.

» Halebidsh - The temples of Halebid like those of Belur, bear mute testimony to the rich, cultural heritage of Karnataka. The Hoysaleswara Temple, dating back to the 12th century, is astounding for its wealth of sculpture details. The walls of the temple are covered with an endless variety of gods and goddess, animals, birds and dancing girls. Yet no two facets of the temple are the same. This magnificent temple-guarded by a Nandi Bull-was never completed, despite 86 years of labour.
In the evening return to Hassan. Over night stay at Hassan.

Day 04: Hassan - Mysore (115 kms)Srirangapatna
After morning breakfast, check out hotel and drive to Mysore, enroute visiting Srirangapatna - the island fortress of the legendary warrior, Tipu Sultan. Inside the fortress is Tipu's mosque with its twin minarets,the celebrated Ranganatha Swamy temple,the Wellesley Bridge and the dungeons where British officers were once imprisoned. On arrival at Mysore check in hotel and relax leisurely. Mysore -is one of the major cities of Karnataka. Mysore is a vibrant city teeming with tourists and visitors. It is known the world over for its exotic sandalwood and rich silks.

Day 05: Mysore
After breakfast in the morning, proceed for a local tour of Mysore, visiting St.Philomena's church-a beautiful Cathedral, reminiscent of medieval architectural style. It is one of the largest churches in the country. Chamundi hills- a well-known 335 metres high landmark, Mysore Maharaja's Palace- is one of the important sights in Mysore. Built in Indo-Saracenic style with domes, turrets, arches and colonnades, the Palace is a treasure house of exquisite carvings and works of art from all over the world. The Mysore Zoo- was set up under royal patronage in the nineteenth century, is famous for breeding some very rare animals in captivity .In the evening proceed to Brindavan Gardens to see the world famous lighting show. Later return back to hotel and over night stay at Mysore.

Day 06: Mysore - Kabini ( 80 km)
Morning after breakfast, check out hotel and proceed to Kabini. On arrival at Kabini, check into the resort. After relaxing for a while you can take the Jungle Package starting with lunch and then the Jeep Safari into Kabini Wildlife Santuary Kabini, a scenic delight, was once the hunting lodge of the erstwhile Mysore Maharajas. The steep valleys with rich forests, spectacular pools and rapid provide an ideal opportunity to revive your adventurous spirits. Over night stay at the resort.


Day 07: Kabini - Coorg (110 Kms)
After morning breakfast, check out resort and drive to Coorg. Coorg is known to visitors and tourists as the Scotland of India and the Kashmir of the south for its scenic beauty. Nestled in the Western Ghats, perched at 800 meters above sea level, Coorg - one of the India's finest holiday destinations. On arrival at Coorg, check in at the resort and spend the rest of the evening at leisure. Over night stay at Coorg.

Day 08: CoorgCoorg
Morning after breakfast, proceed for a full day local tour of Coorg. The places of tourist interest are: Talacuvery, the place from which the holly River Cauvery took birth. The Dubare forest, situated in the south of Coorg is an Elephant haven. It was here that originally elephants were trained for Dasara celebrations held in Mysore every year in the month of October. Nisargadhama is a popular family holiday spot. With ample cottages spread over forest area, it is an ideal place to spot deers. Habbi Falls - A big attraction for tourists and filmdom alike. Valanoor-the backwater of river Cauvery is one of the most beautiful Angling sites in Karnataka. Evening return back to resort and over night stay at Coorg.

Day 09: Coorg - Bangalore (250 Kms)
After morning breakfast, check out resort and drive to Bangalore. On arrival check in at hotel and the rest of the afternoon is at leisure. In the evening you could go shopping or you could visit one of the several Pubs or Discotheques and spend your time partying and dancing. Over night stay at Bangalore.


Day 10: Departure: Bangalore
After morning breakfast, check out hotel and drive to airport for your onward journey.
