Duration : 09 Days / 08 Nights
Destinations : Trivandrum - Kovalam - Alleppey - Kumarakom -
Periyar - Cochin
Day 01 -Arrival: Trivandrum - Kovalam
(13 kms)
On arrival at Trivandrum airport you will be greeted by our
executive/representative and then transferred to Kovalam where you check
in at resort. This is a perfect hide away, far from mass tourism. The rest
of the day is at leisure and relaxation. Over night stay at Kovalam.
Day 02 - Kovalam
Relax and enjoy the facilities at the resort including yoga and massage,
nature walks and spending time leisurely at the beach. Over night stay at
Kovalam.
Day 03 - Kovalam - Alleppey (160 kms)
Morning after breakfast, check out from the resort and drive to Alleppey.
Alleppey is one of the major centers for backwater boat trips. The
intricate network of canals through this town has earned it the sobriquet
"The Venice of the East". At Alleppey board a private rice boat
and then cruise through the narrow canals and wide lakes enjoying the
scenic natural beauty - coconut trees, rice patties, small villages - which augments a million times during the monsoons. Food
and over night stay on houseboat.
Day 04 -Kumarakom
Morning after breakfast, relax on houseboat, and by this time you would
have reached Kumarakom. Kumarakom- a place undoubtedly the most
invigorating, fascinating paradise in Kerala, slumbers on the banks of the
famous Vembanad Lake. On arrival, check in at the backwater resort, and
spend the remaining part of the day enjoying your stay on the banks of the
backwaters. Over night stay at Kumarakom.
Day 05 - Kumarakom - Periyar (116 kms)
After breakfast, check out from resort and commence your scenic travel
past mist capped mountains, spice plantations and open grasslands lined
with spectacular water falls to Periyar, also known as Thekkady. If you
are interested in looking forward to having a closer look at the wild side
of life, then a visit to the Periyar Wildlife Park and Tiger Reserve is a
must.
On arrival, check in at resort, and spend time relaxing. Later in the
afternoon a safari on the Periyar Lake extends a lifetime's chance to spot
exotic wildlife in its natural habitat - like the eccentric bathing habits
of the wild elephants that come down to the lake. Over night stay Periyar.
Day 06 - Periyar
An early morning trip through the Wildlife Park and Periyar Tiger Reserve
might get you the opportunity to meet the beast. Trekking with a local
guide familiarizes you to the rare birds, trees & flowers that you
come across here. You can even set upon a walk through the plantations
filled with the heady fragrance of fresh spice. The tall trees sway madly with the cool winds of the monsoons and transport the mindblowing aroma to a far distance. Some of the inhabitants of
the Park include the leopard, wild dog, barking deer, mouse deer, Nilgiri
langur (a primate), bonnet macaque, sambhar, porcupines, squirrels, gaur
(Indian bison), wild boar and sloth bear. The unusual species found at
Periyar include the flying lizard and the flying snake.
Over night stay Periyar.
Day 07 - Periyar - Cochin (74 Kms)
After morning breakfast, check out resort and drive to Cochin. On arrival
at Cochin, check in at hotel/resort and spend the afternoon at leisure. In
the evening you can visit/attend the Kathakali Dance show - a classical
age-old traditional dance-drama of Kerala. Over night stay Cochin.
Day 08 - Cochin
Morning after breakfast, enjoy a full day city tour covering - Jewish
Synagogue, the 400-year-old synagogue, which is the oldest in the
Commonwealth Countries. The interiors have exquisite hand painted Chinese
tiles and Belgian Chandeliers. St. Francis Church - The first European
church in India, Chinese Fishing Nets - The huge, elegant fishing nets,
The Dutch Palace - built by the Portuguese in 1557and later occupied and
renovated by the Dutch. In the evening rejuvenate your body and mind with
our Complimentary Ayurvedic Body Massage. The rain showers over the green patch of Kerala during the monsoons is believed to open many pores of the human body, which increases the therapeutic effect of the Ayurveda treatment. Over night stay at Cochin.
Day 09: Departure
