Location

The
sanctified state of Kerala occupies a position on the southwestern tip of
the Indian subcontinent. It has the Arabian sea on its west and the western
Ghats on its east. The state comprises the coastal lowlands, the fertile

Climate of Kerala
Owing to the diversity of geographical features, the state experiences a
diverse climate. The highlands enjoy a cool climate all throughout the year
while the plains remain hot and humid. The maximum and minimum temperatures
in Kerala record 32 degrees and 20 degrees centigrade respectively. April to
June is the summer time while winter extends from October to January. Kerala
never gets too chilly. Kerala might also be called the home of the monsoons

all around. June to November, the monsoon period, is also the perfect time

Accessibility
The state has two international airports- Thiruvananthapuram International
Airport and Cochin International Airport. Major domestic and international
airlines connect the state to the major cities of India and the gulf
countries. Kozhikode is yet another airport in the state providing link to
the major cities of the country. By rail route, Kerala is linked to cities
like Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata. A fabulous network of roads

Culture of Kerala
Ancient rulers of the state were great patronages of art and architecture.
And thus Kerala has inherited from generation to generation a rich heritage
of culture. Kathakali and Mohiniattam are the two most popular dance forms
of the state. Folk dances like Theyyam, Thiruvathirakali and Kaikotikali are
no less absorbing. The classical dance forms are very theatrical in
presentation and also involve martial arts practices.

» Backwaters
A night on a Kettuvallam (Traditional
houseboat) is the most delightful experience while in Kerala. These
houseboats have been the means of main inland transportation since time
immemorial. Today, these houseboats come along with luxury and a full range
of Kerala culinary delights to pamper yourself with. Alleppey and Kumarakom
are the two most popular backwater destinations.
» Beaches
Boasting a shoreline of as long as 600 km, Kerala has such famous beaches
as Kovalam, Poovar, Alleppey etc. bordered with tall palm groves, the
beaches have an unspoiled charm, roping in tourists from far and wide.
» Hill Stations
Nestled in the western Ghats lie a number of idyllic hill stations that,
apart from their natural wonders, afford panoramic views of tiny quaint
villages. Of all the hill stations, Munnar, Palakkad, Ponmudi and Rajmala
are the much appreciated and popular.
» Wildlife
There are 13 sanctuaries and 5 national parks in the state. Of them all,
The Silent Valley and the Eravikulam National Park fall among the richest
biosphere category in India. Here, one can spot a number of endangered
wildlife species including the Nilgiri tahr. The protean aquatic system of
the backwaters harbour numerous migratory birds as well. Other
worth-spotting inhabitants include the civet cat, impressive-tailed Malabar
squirrel and the rare giant grizzled squirrel among others.
Festivals of Kerala
Kerala remains ceremonious almost all
throughout the year. It's a land where celebrations never end. The rich and
vibrant culture of the state truly reflects in the fanfare and festivity

its very feasts and festivals. Onam, Thrissur Pooram and Payippad Jelotsavam
